The Rangers just lost a key cog on their solid fourth line. The Adam Edstrom injury will keep him out 2-3 months, which may be the rest of this season. Edstrom left Saturday’s loss to Boston and did not play in their win over Vegas. Edstrom has been a critical piece on one of the better fourth lines in hockey right now, as he’s been a steady presence in all three zones.
The Adam Edstrom injury hurts, but Jimmy Vesey, who ironically enough spoke about his ice time last week, will be able to slide right in without much difference in on-ice production. The play style is different, but the effectiveness should still be still there. It’s a blow the Rangers can absorb, but now with Vesey and Brodzinski playing regular minutes, one more injury will make things complicated.
