The Rangers’ forward depth took a hit last week, as top prospect Brennan Othmann will be out 4-6 weeks with a wrist injury. Othmann hurt his wrist after getting thrown to the ice against Bridgeport the other night. Othmann had been off to a solid start with Hartford, putting up 2-3-5 in 3 games to start the season.
If the Rangers need a scoring forward in the next 4-6 weeks, it looks like Brett Berard will be the first man up. He too is off to a good start, with 5 goals and 8 points in 6 games. Bo Groulx has 4 goals and 8 points, but he’s more likely than not to be a bottom of the lineup recall.
