Buffalo Bills To Reveal New Alternate Helmets On July 22 – SportsLogos.Net News

According to a report from SB Nation team site Buffalo Rumblings, the Buffalo Bills are set to reveal a new alternate helmet on July 22, the same day they open training camp.

This could potentially be our first look at the NFL and Nike’s new “Rivalries” program, as members of the AFC East and NFC West will debut new community-inspired uniforms this season.

But our sources have indicated the league is eyeing a fall rollout of all eight designs, very similar to how the 24 teams that did not participate in the initial Color Rush rollout in 2015 unveiled their uniforms on a single night in September 2016.

We’re also somewhat skeptical of the report, as those same sources only indicated the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Chargers, New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders would unveil new alternate or throwback helmets this month.

That’s not to say the Bills won’t add a second helmet design to their rotation this season, but we’re confident it won’t be “new.” Rather, if the report comes to fruition, we anticipate it would be a classic look they’ll bring back as way to commemorate their final season at Highmark Stadium.

The Bills could easily swap the decals on their standard white helmets to replicate their 1965-73 design, which they previously did for a throwback option from 2005-10 and 2012-21. This design was notably worn during Highmark Stadium’s first season in 1973 – known at that time as Rich Stadium.

Buffalo could also choose to add a red shell, honoring the most-successful era in franchise history, having appeared in four straight Super Bowls from 1990-93 (XXV, XXVI, XXVII, XXVIII). That would feature a white facemask, “Charging Buffalo” logos on the sides and a blue, red and white striping pattern, a la their 1987-2001 design.

Either way, we already had the date circled on the calendar after our sources previously indicated the Saints would reveal an alternate uniform on July 22. They already unveiled their new alternate helmets, though, so this new report just adds to the mystery of the day.
