The Cincinnati Bengals announced on Wednesday they’ll wear their “White Bengal” alternate uniforms during their Thursday Night Football matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 16.
The Bengals introduced their white alternate helmets in 2022, though NFL rules initially forced them to pair the lids with their all-white Color Rush uniforms in wins over the Miami Dolphins and Steelers.
The Color Rush uniforms matched their 2004-20 design, however, so the Bengals successfully petitioned the league to wear its standard road uniforms – which feature a simplified striping pattern – with their white helmets in 2023.
Cincinnati went 2-0 in the combination that season, including wins over the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars, before suffering its first loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024. That was the white helmet’s lone appearance last year.
The Bengals previously announced they’ll wear their all-orange uniforms in the home opener against the Jaguars on Sept. 9, meanwhile, leaving two potential games for their white helmets and/or orange jerseys to return later in the season.
In addition to the all-white uniforms, Cincinnati will almost certainly white out the midfield logo and end zone design at Paycor Stadium for the game against the Steelers, just as they did against the Dolphins, Rams and Eagles.
