The collegiate summer level Blue Ridge League will debut in 2026 with six teams, including five existing teams and the just-announced Davie Crocketts. The Crocketts, who will play in Davie County, North Carolina (hence, the Davie Crocketts), pay tribute to legendary frontiersman Davy Crockett, even though his name is spelled slightly differently from the county’s.

“The Davie Crocketts identity draws from frontier-era toughness and independence, a natural fit for a team built around grit, individuality, and local pride,” the team said in a statement.

The brand, which centers around Davy Crockett’s likeness wearing a raccoon cap, was created by artist Brittain peck, who has brought his uniquely hand-drawn style to other teams in the Blue Ridge League, including the Carolina Disco Turkeys, Marion Hungry Mothers, and Uwharrie Wampus Cats.

Crockett, known as the “King of the Wild Frontier,” spent most of his life in North Carolina’s neighbor to the west, Tennessee, including representing the state in the US House of Representatives.

“Our focus is building something that lasts,” said Greg Sullivan, Chairman of the Blue Ridge League. “That means great baseball, but it also means creating a brand people are proud to wear. While Daniel Boone is the frontiersman usually associated with Davie County, we leaned into wordplay and fun. We’ve always admired Mando Field’s character and Mocksville as a baseball town and can’t wait to bring it to life this summer.”

The Blue Ridge League will debut in May 2026, with the Crocketts playing at historic Mando Field at Rich Park in Mocksville, North Carolina.
