Dr. Jill Biden, you’ve been outbid. The former First Lady reportedly placed a $35,000 bid for a walk-on role on the next season of Heated Rivalry but did not win the grand prize. “Live from the NYC LGBT Center Gala: Dr Jill Biden was a surprise guest tonight – and just bid $35k for a walk on role in Heated Rivalry season 2!!!!” Versha Sharma reported on April 16. “But was outbid – final winners bid $125k each, for a total of $250k raised for the center!!” All the money raised went to the NYC LGBT Center. Other Heated Rivalry items up for auction were a signed jersey by Hudson Williams, Rachel Reid, and Jacob Tierney, and a Heated Rivalry book signed by Reid and Tierney, which sold for a combined $19,500.
The gala honored Jacob Tierney, creator of Heated Rivalry, and executive producer Brendan Brady, who was not in attendance. Game Changers author Rachel Reid presented Tierney with the Cultural Impact Award. “Tierney and Brady have elevated and centered queer characters as fully realized leads whose desires, conflicts and tenderness are treated with dignity,” Center CEO Dr. Carla Smith said previously. “By championing our voices, they have brought queer joy and storytelling to the mainstream media and have created work that affirms and advances our community.”
