Four Fun Things | Cup of Jo

This fall, I’ve been struck by how many people on the street are wearing solid colors, versus prints. I love the timeless feel of brown, denim, red, and grey. Grey sweatshirts are such a classic year-round piece, don’t you think? Jamie Haller makes a very splurgy but beautifully fitting one, and for more of a steal, I really like this soft raglan one. Both hit at the hip, feel broken in, have a crew neck that doesn’t feel too tight, and are soft at the waist and shoulders, so they drape nicely. What are you wearing these days?

Remember the Tiktok trend of asking the guys in your life how often they think about the Roman Empire? (My own dad said, “All the time, sweetie! All the time.”) Well, Brett Neustrom has some follow-up questions.

What quick dinners do you make on weeknights? Our rotation includes pesto pasta, zucchini soup, and chicken parm meatballs, and I’d LOVE to hear your go-tos.

Finally, our newsletter Big Salad turns one year old tomorrow! Thank you for all your support of this new project, it has meant so much to us. Some of our favorite issues were Ashley Ford’s essay on poverty and preferences, my first date after divorce, and Abbey Nova’s garden makeover. To celebrate, we are doing a huge giveaway of my 12 favorite things tomorrow (think: a babaà sweater, food candles, the new Sally Rooney book) AND hosting a live stream conversation today at 3 p.m. EST with my friend Erika Veurink. We’ll be chatting about friendships, relationships, marriage, sex, you name it, and of course you can ask any questions you’d like. Go here for details or to subscribe. Thank you!! xoxo

P.S. More fun things, and what has made you laugh lately?
