Yesterday a report surfaced claiming Google canceled the Pixel Tablet 3, thus giving up on the form factor yet again. Today there’s an intriguing plot twist to the story.
A new source says it was actually the Pixel Tablet 2 – you know, the one with the first-party keyboard case – that got the axe.
Provided this is true, the big question is whether the Pixel Tablet 3 will launch as the Pixel Tablet 2. Or, in lieu of that, if the original Pixel Tablet is also the last Pixel Tablet. This is unclear at the moment.
If you’re wondering why, Google is reportedly concerned that it might lose money on the Pixel Tablet 2. The device would have been powered by the Tensor G4 SoC, and was slated for release next year in both Wi-Fi-only and 5G-capable variants.
