Have a Lovely Weekend. | Cup of Jo

What are you up to this weekend? Anton and I have been visiting our family in England, and are coming home tomorrow. (Can’t wait to squeeze Toby and my mom, who have been together in Brooklyn!) Hope you have a good one, and here are a few links from around the web…

The perfect spring sweater.

Have you played the game Imposter? The boys and I have gotten really into it.

Things all New Yorkers should know. “If you want to make your own pizza at home, your local slice joint will probably sell you some dough if you ask.” True, and it’s usually only $5! (New York Magazine)

Patchwork curtains.

The prettiest alternative to chapstick.

Oooh, wouldn’t you love to go to a hotel made for walking? (NYTimes gift link)

Curious about Dan Levy’s new show on Netflix. (It currently has a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.)

Artichoke gratin toasts.

My friend swears by outdoor rugs in her kids’ room, and this is now on my radar for my own bedroom.

Cherry-blossom season, as captured by 11 photographers. (Vogue)

And these dog sledding photos are incredible. “Like the dogs, I didn’t quit. And I was efficient at checkpoints, those camps or villages en route where teams can rest and resupply. I could churn through tasks: making straw beds for the dogs, taking off their booties, lighting the methanol cooker, melting snow, thawing meat, doling out stew, tucking the dogs under blankets, massaging their muscles… Checkpoints are where most mushers lose time, even if their dogs are fast: The sleeping bag’s too enticing, and the booties’ ice-crusted Velcro gets stuck to itself when your hands are fumbling cold.” (NYTimes gift link)

There is magic in the world. (from the movie Boyhood, via Handpicked and Tiny Revolutions)

Finally, how gorgeous is our editor Kaitlyn Teer’s kitchen garden? (Big Salad gift link)

Plus, two reader comments:

Says Midge on have a beautiful weekend: “I’m throwing myself a Menopause Party! It will be my actual 365th day without a period, so I invited three dozen women over for cake and Champagne. The theme is black polka dots, because I’m putting a period on the period of my life with periods. I am tearful at having them in my home — colleagues, besties, my Pilates instructor, my current and former bosses, my book group, former PTA friends — and getting to stand up in front of all these women I love and admire, who will be part of my next chapter.”

Says Faith on stuff I just love: “I love when I see an adult eating ice cream out in the world, sans kids. It makes me so happy, like, yes, treat yourself! Your younger self would think you’re living your best life being able to have ice cream whenever you wanted.”
