Have a Lovely Weekend. | Cup of Jo

What are you up to this weekend? We were thinking of visiting our friends on the North Fork, but now the boys are lamenting the idea of a three-hour drive, so I’m going to see if I can hype it up and/or let them choose the playlist, and who knows what will happen next?!! I’m on the edge of my seat, haha. Hope you have a good one, and here are a few links from around the web…

I created a Mother’s Day gift guide with my favorite NYC jewelry store. (I love this engraved ring and ring holder.)

The two-ingredient treat I’ll be making all summer long. (NYTimes gift link)

Gahhhh, who should we all move to this house in Wales?

Bodega cats of New York.

What a voice-y review of an Indian restaurant. “Aunties in kurtas and Hokas lounged in suede banquettes, giving approving nods to the crisp shells of Banarasi puri filled with potatoes and tangy chutneys. Anyone with aunties knows they don’t give the nod unless they really mean it.” (NYTimes gift link)

The best robe I’ve ever found (I tried this on at a hotel and immediately ordered one for myself).

Omg, this bored cat will stop us from scrolling.

GROW UP! Hahahahaha.

What is borderline personality disorder? “She began to notice a troubling pattern in all of her relationships: They felt either euphoric or devastating, with no middle ground. A seemingly small conflict could cause her to ‘completely lash out without thinking of any of the consequences,’ said Ms. Del Rio.” (NYTimes gift link)

The easiest way to capture that just-back-from-the-beach feeling.

If you enjoyed Belle Burden’s Strangers, here’s what to read next. (gift link)

How gorgeous are flower stairs?!

Finally, 10 fun things I noticed around Brooklyn, including cool shoes and a small dating update. (Big Salad)

Plus, three comments from readers:

Says Claire-Elizabeth on have a relaxing weekend: “Pro tip! Charly Clive (co-star of Rooster) narrates the hilarious, extremely entertaining memoir Tart by Slutty Cheff. HIGHLY recommend.”

Says Tracey on who are the unexpected friends in your life: “Start hanging out in front of your home — read a book on your stoop, put out some pots, putter around the garden. Where I live, most people shut themselves in their backyards, but if you venture near the street, people can’t help but chat with you.”

Says Jessica on who are the unexpected friends in your life: “When we realized our three boys were the only children in our new apartment building, I panicked and made cookies for the neighbors on our floor. I worried most about our across-the-hall neighbor Kirk — a rather severe-looking older man with a serious demeanor, pristine home, and Bernese mountain dog named Beppi. I even added a note of apology ‘in advance’ for the ‘rowdiness’ that was about to invade his life. Two days later, we came home to a card on our door addressed to our boys. Inside, it read, ‘Be rowdy! – Kirk.’ Since then, Kirk has become a favorite; he gives our boys Christmas gifts and lets them feed Beppi as many treats as they want.”
