The Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp, a baseball team in the collegiate summer level Prospect League, will be absolutely glowing when they take the field as the Radioactive Shrimp for one game in 2026. The fact that the announcement comes just before Halloween is not a coincidence—the alternate identity will make its on-field debut next season during a promotion the team calls Radioactive Shrimp’s Halloween at Schweickert Stadium.
The alternate identity, which comes with a new name and a color shift from the Pistol Shrimp’s traditional orange to a radioactive green, is the team’s first since its inception in 2019.
“We are always looking to have more fun and find new ways to elevate the experience for our fans,” said Pistol Shrimp Assistant General Manager Lucas Burris in a statement. “Something special happens each summer when Halloween comes to Schweickert Stadium, and we believe this will only enhance our brand as baseball’s leader for Halloween.”
The Pistol Shrimp will announce a specific date for the promotion and unveil uniforms closer to the season.
