Kansas Jayhawks Unveil New Turf Design For Renovated David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium – SportsLogos.Net News

When the Kansas Jayhawks kick off the 2025 football season against Fresno State on Aug. 23, they’ll be playing on a new turf design that completes Phase 1 of the ongoing renovations to Kivisto Field at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.

Kansas’ primary logo is displayed at midfield of the new turf, which alternates between a darker and lighter shade of green every five yards. It is accompanied by Big XII logos and advertisements for MMTH, a local sports marketing and construction company, on the 25-yard lines.

The blue end zones feature a block “Kansas” wordmark in front of sublimated wheat fields, matching the yard markers, while the team areas include sublimated “Rock Chalk” and “Jayhawk” wordmarks on opposite sides of the stadium.

The playing surface is almost entirely surrounded by a white out-of-bounds area, though there is a thin red stroke that wraps around the end zones and to the 25-yard lines. The design is complete with “Kivisto Field” on the northwest and southeast sides of the stadium.

While some fans clamored for the Jayhawks to use their 1941 “Warhawk” logo – which can be seen on the helmets of their all-black uniforms – at midfield, athletic director Travis Goff said that brand strategy and consistency ultimately “prevailed.”

That said, there is currently no timeline for the second and third phase of the renovation, which include the reconstruction of south and east stands and the erection of a mixed-used facility that will include a hotel, restaurants, retail spaces and potential student housing.

The turf likely won’t be impacted by any future renovations, like it was last season, when Kansas closed the stadium and hosted its non-conference games at Children’s Mercy Park, home of Major League Soccer’s Sporting Kansas City, and conference games at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs.
