It was less wild than Day 1 for the Blueshirts, but the New York Rangers 2026 Draft day 2 was still active, making 8 picks today. The Rangers also made one minor trade, sending Adam Edstrom to Nashville for a draft pick. The Rangers had a pretty solid draft, adding a lot of skating and speed to the farm system and swinging for the fences with several high ceiling picks. They did not make any major trades, but there’s still plenty of offseason to come.
I’m sure Rangers 2026 Draft day 2 was underwhelming for some expecting Vincent Trocheck and/or Braden Schneider trades. It seems Dylan Larkin is holding up the Trocheck market, and Schneider is an odd player to attempt to trade so that makes it more likely his trade might take a bit.
Will (and maybe Hope) will have his full 2026 NHL Draft review in the coming days. All in all, it was a solid 2026 draft for Chris Drury and John Lilley. The approach was to add speed and skill and swing for the fences, and they did just that. Chrenko in particular is already the best center prospect the Rangers have (which doesn’t say much, but that’s a separate issue).
