NHL Playoffs Open Thread: The first round could end tonight

The first round of the 2026 NHL playoffs could end tonight as Montreal, Buffalo, and Vegas look to close out Tampa Bay, Boston, and Utah, respectively. Only Montreal has home ice advantage tonight, as they look to dispose of a surprisingly flat Lightning team that isn’t really hitting expectations this postseason. Buffalo and Vegas will look to close out their series on the road. Though both are the better team, they haven’t necessarily shown it in their respective series.

There are three games on the schedule tonight:

• Lightning @ Canadiens (Game 6, Montreal leads 3-2)
• Sabres @ Bruins (Game 6, Buffalo leads series 3-2)
• Golden Knights @ Mammoth (Game 6, Vegas leads series 3-2)
