The Rangers are facing some adversity, having gone winless in their last two games. The Devils blew them out, followed by getting goalied in Columbus. Losses happen. Losing streaks happen. But those two losses highlighted two concerns: The bottom four, specifically the second pair, are getting caved in; and the forwards need to generate more shots on net. The Rangers pass too much and don’t get rewarded for their offensive zone time. That will make things easier on the defense too. So both are related.
The Ducks aren’t nearly as good as they were last year, at least not to start the season. This isn’t a soft landing for the Blueshirts, but it’s better than facing Colorado.
