The Rangers, after giving up 41 shots in a win against Ottawa, are looking to figure things out at 5v5 against the Islanders. The Isles are without Mat Barzal and Adam Pelech, which means they are without two of their top players. On paper, that makes them a soft landing, but we know better. The lines and pairings are in a blender and Jimmy Vesey returns today, so anything goes.
The Rangers need to find some defensive footing while continuing to produce offense. The Islanders should be able to give the Rangers space to work on things, especially with so many injuries. But it’s still the Islanders, and JG Pageau is annoying to play against as a Ranger fan.
