The Rangers are spiraling. They started the season so well, and very little of it was smoke and mirrors. Then they just stopped being good. There isn’t one specific reason–schedule, lineup blendering, injuries, etc–for the sudden drop off, it’s multiple factors all culminating in this disaster of an on-ice product we’ve seen for 3-4 weeks now. The Rangers squandered their chances to bank points against bad teams as well.
Now with the red hot Carolina Hurricanes up next, the Rangers are in a bit of a pickle. Carolina is 8-1-0 at home this year, and are firing on all cylinders. This might get ugly fast.
