The Rangers travel to Pittsburgh for their first of a back-to-back, second of a three-in-four, and second of a four-in-six. The schedule is condensed with the Olympics in February, and the Rangers play every other night for the majority of the season to compensate. They now need to compensate for the loss of Vincent Trocheck for a few weeks, with a bit of a line shakeup.
The Blueshirts will look to exact a little revenge tonight after getting blanked by the Penguins during the home opener. The Rangers were fine defensively, holding Pittsburgh to just one high danger chance, but the offense was slow and virtually non-existent. Only Mika Zibanejad was able to generate a few good chances. The Penguins aren’t good, but they aren’t as bad as many thought they will be. Still, the Rangers are better and should win.
