The Rangers need to start winning games if they wish to extend their season by at least 4 games in April. The playoff bound Minnesota Wild are their first of many playoff teams standing in their way, and it feels like too big a mountain to climb for this team. But the story tonight isn’t the Rangers, it’s top prospect Gabe Perreault, who makes his NHL debut tonight on a line with JT Miller and Alexis Lafreniere. The Rangers need an infusion of youth, and they’ve been getting it the last few weeks.
It may be too late to salvage the season, but Perreault gives us new stories to watch as the season comes to a close in the next few weeks. Maybe the Blueshirts surprise us. Maybe they don’t. But all eyes are on Perreault tonight.
