The Rangers head to Newark in another critical game against the Devils. The Devils are getting crushed with injuries, with Jack Hughes, Dougie Hamilton, Jonas Siegenthaler, and a few dozen others dealing with injuries of varying severity. That means the Devils, who quite frankly should be better, are a beatable team for this Rangers club. The Blueshirts seem to have some offensive pep to their step, but defensively they are still a nightmare. New Jersey’s top half of the lineup is still very good, and despite the injuries, they are no pushover.
All games are critical now, and while the Rangers dug themselves into this hole, you have to wonder how things would look if they simply got a few more games to overtime. But that’s a topic for another day.
