The New York Rangers continue their quest to maximize their odds at the draft lottery this afternoon, welcoming the Detroit Red Wings to MSG. The Blueshirts have an opportunity to play spoiler here, as Detroit is in a four way tie with Ottawa, Columbus, and Philadelphia for the final wild card spot in the East, all of them just 1 point behind the Islanders. Detroit has been stumbling, but they have a lot to play for.
As for the Blueshirts, they will most likely finish the season where they are (29th) or moving down a spot in the standings to 30th. There isn’t much difference in their lottery odds, so tempering expectations is probably a good thing.
