Ohio State Buckeyes Unveil New Basketball Court Designs – SportsLogos.Net News

The Ohio State men’s basketball program unveiled a new gray court on Friday morning that will allow the Buckeyes to swap the midcourt logo for a script wordmark when they wear their throwback uniforms.

The core court design prominently displays a Block “O” at midcourt, scarlet keys with the Big Ten logo, scarlet sidelines/baselines with a sublimated Block “O” mosaic pattern and “Ohio State” wordmarks under the baskets. 

Meanwhile, the “Heritage” court – which brings to mind the “Heritage Stripes” throwback uniforms the Buckeyes’ football program wore in the national championship in January – simply swaps out the Block “O” at center court for a script “Buckeyes” wordmark.

The basketball team has worn scarlet throwback uniforms featuring this script wordmark, which was originally used in the 1980s, since the 2018-19 season. Ohio State then added a matching white throwback uniform in 2020-21. 

This marks the first new court design for the Buckeyes since the 2018-19 season. The previous design featured the athletics Block “O” inside of a sublimated state outline at midcourt, as well as their iconic helmet stripe and sublimated Buckeye Leaf decals along the sidelines. 

The new design also falls in line with the program’s historical courts, which featured a traditional Block “O” at midcourt from 1956-98 and scarlet keys and sidelines/baselines from 1960-2005. It’s the first time the Buckeyes have deviated from a standard hardwood finish, however.
