After much debate and many complaints, the Rangers have finally recalled goalie Dylan Garand. With how the season is going and how Jonathan Quick has looked, it was a matter of time before Garand was recalled. Earlier in the season when Igor Shesterkin was hurt, the Rangers recalled Spencer Martin, and it made sense at the time given it was still January/February. With the season coming to a close, recalling Dylan Garand makes more sense to see what he has.

Garand’s recall probably kills any playoff chances the Hartford Wolf Pack have, which is odd since they are in last place but still in the playoff hunt. The 23 year old goalie has been one of their strengths this season, despite a .896 SV%, which is mostly due to atrocious team defense by the Pack. Garand is still in the running to be Quick’s replacement as the Rangers backup next season.
The Rangers are now carrying three goalies, which seems odd. Wonder if there’s an injury?
