In the wake of the Kaapo Kakko trade, the Rangers have recalled forward Matt Rempe, returning Victor Mancini to the Hartford Wolf Pack in the same transaction. With the defense “handled” for now, and take that with a grain of salt, the forwards were short a player. Though it remains to be seen if and where Rempe will play, given the emergence of Brett Berard and the hopeful return of Artemi Panarin this week.
Rempe won’t do much for the Rangers, not because he can’t or isn’t capable, but because the refs are on him and have an incredible bias against him. Until that bias has been resolved, Rempe will never get the benefit of the doubt and will probably wind up getting phantom calls against him as well.
This whole season is a mess, isn’t it?
