One of Saudi Arabia’s most successful soccer clubs has a new crest that draws on the team’s past as they look toward the future.
Al-Ahli Saudi FC unveiled the new crest on Wednesday, July 2, during an event at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The club says the “new logo represents the launch of a modern visual identity that reflects Al Ahli’s rich heritage and future ambitions.”
The new crest brings back the shield shape that Al-Ahli used from the club’s founding in 1937 until 1997. The club says the green shield with white and navy blue outlines symbolizes “strength and unity.” Across the centre of the shield is a white banner with the club motto “Together Through Time” in Arabic.
Below the banner is the club name in English and in Arabic. Above it is a palm tree — a motif found in Al-Ahli’s crests since its founding — along with “JED” for their home city of Jeddah and “1937” denoting the year the club was established.
The selection of the new logo was based on an extensive public engagement campaign, during which Al Ahli fans shared their perspectives and aspirations through an official vote that helped shape this new identity.
The original 1937 shield crest was used on a black and gold “heritage” kit during the 2024-25 season.
Al-Ahli are three-time Saudi Pro League champions and nine-time runners-up. They’ve won the King’s Cup 13 times and the Crown Prince’s Cup six times. They also won the AFC Champions League Elite in 2024-25. Their current roster features some recognizable names who previously played in Europe’s top domestic soccer leagues, including:
