Thoughts on the Rangers Boston connection, and including Will Cuylle in a trade

Live From the Blue Seats is back as Dave and Producer JL talk re-hiring David Quinn and the Rangers Boston connection in the coaching staff and front office. The entire coaching staff and Chris Drury all have connections to Boston and BU, as does Chris Kreider. Is the Rangers Boston connection a play at Jack Eichel next season? Pat Brisson is Eichel’s agent, and the Rangers recently acquired his son Brendan in a trade. All signs are pointing to Eichel next season, but is that really the right move? Another 30 year old center, even if it is Eichel?

In addition, some odd rumors around Jason Robertson appeared last week. It’s highly unlikely that Dallas trades him, but if they do, the Rangers should be looking at everyone on the roster to acquire him. Yes, that includes Will Cuylle. As a general statement, Cuylle should not be the difference maker to acquire a 100-point winger like Robertson. If Cuylle is the make or break piece, then you make the trade.
