Where there’s smoke there’s fire: Vincent Trocheck and Buffalo rumors heating up

There are now three different people connecting Vincent Trocheck and Buffalo, as the Sabres look to replace the now traded Alex Tuch. The Rangers were in big on Bowen Byram before, so it seems Buffalo is over their “no big trades with the Rangers” stance that perhaps stopped them from acquiring Jack Eichel a few years ago. Trocheck would certainly help Buffalo down the middle, replacing Tuch’s production for half the cap hit at almost the same age.

What’s interesting is how big this trade might be. Vincent Trocheck and Buffalo are one thing, but the Sabres have expressed interest in Braden Schneider in the past. This has the potential to be another blockbuster if Chris Drury pulls this off. The question, as always, is what Drury wants in return.

Buffalo has the 4th overall pick, which could be in play if both Trocheck and Schneider are packaged together. Peyton Krebs is a restricted free agent. Ryan McLeod would help the Rangers center depth, even if he’s over 25 years old.

There’s the makings of a big trade that helps the Rangers, so we shall see if anything comes of this.
