In a purely financial move, the Rangers have recalled forward Juuso Parssinen and reassigned rookie center Cole Beaudoin to the AHL. The move maximizes LTIR space by getting them closer to the cap ceiling, which is what they need to do to maximize that space. In doing so, the Rangers add around $300,000 in cap space and will be able to exceed the cap ceiling by around $12.5 million, assuming Joe Veleno is put on LTIR as well. Though Beaudoin’s giveaway led to the loss to Washington, this move is not a punishment. This is purely financial.
Beaudoin was initially recalled as Veleno’s replacement, as the latter is out 3 months with a lower body injury. Aside from his gaffe last night, Beaudoin wasn’t bad. In addition to the financial space for the Rangers, Beaudoin will get to play in all situations in Hartford as opposed to 10 minutes a night with the Rangers.
Yes, this means Juuso Parssinen will be the 4C for the Rangers. At least for now.
