Raise your glass, Disney ordered a new Glee revival series on October 21. Ryan Murphy shared that he finished the script in September and has had support from the original gleeks. “I’ve been in touch with about ten of the original cast members,” Murphy said. “It’s very sweet! They all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea.” McKinley High’s walls have been dormant for more than ten years, a.k.a. ten years of pop hits for New Directions to sing at regions. No Benson Boone song is safe from the Glee club. Or Chappell Roan banger, for that matter. But while social media debates on whether a Glee-boot is a blessing or a curse, the former cast is dusting off their sequin hats. But who’s willing to come back to Lima, Ohio after all this time? Below are everyone who’s down to clown for another round of Glee and those who are taking the L.
What’s a Glee-boot without Rachel Berry? Broadway star Lea Michele is coming back. In the final season of the original series, Rachel returned to McKinley High after her failed TV pilot and coached New Directions alongside Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer). The last time we saw her, she was the surrogate for Kurt and Blaine’s baby, won a Tony Award, and married Jesse St. James (Jonathan Groff). So, what’s Rachel up to now?
Oh cheerio, Brittany S. Pierce escaped the sewers. Deadline reported on October 22 that Heather Morris is in talks to return for the revival. While her return isn’t officially confirmed, Morris is eager to come back to McKinley High. “Yes ladies and gentle men of women, rumors are true. Brittany S Pierce was in fact lost in the sewers for all these years. But I’m here to inform you that she is alive and well… And back for more,” she wrote on Instagram. It’s Brittany, bitch!
Deadline also reports that Chord Overstreet, who played the sensitive Sam Evans, is in talks to return to Glee. He posted on X that he’s “reunited” on the day of the announcement but hasn’t explicitly stated he’s back on the show.
There’s no confirmation that Matthew Morrison will be bringing his Cameo charm to the new Glee. Deadline says he’s “hopeful that he will be part of the project,” but he’s not in talks with production yet. “The Thong Song” might just stay in 2009.
