Marnie’s mom now has a back tattoo. Rita Wilson, who played Evie Michaels, Alison Williams’s mother, on Girls, teases to People she may return for the upcoming revival series filming next summer. When asked if she was coming back, she laughed. “That is what I’m hearing, so I don’t think Lena would be lying about that,” Wilson explained. “Lena is one of the most talented people I’ve ever worked with. I would do anything for her. I would bend over backwards.” Maybe this leaves room for more beloved side characters to return. Mimi-Rose, where are you?
All four girls (Dunham, Williams, Zosia Mamet, and Jemima Kirke) and one boy (Andrew Rannells) are confirmed to reprise their roles in the revival as messy 40-somethings, cruelly skipping past their 30s. Need to see how they handled being called ma’am for the first time. Nonetheless, the revival is an exciting moment for TV. “We always said we would only return to Girls if there was a specific story we were burning to tell,” Dunham said at the time of the announcement. “I’ve missed these characters, but for a long time I couldn’t quite picture them in the present day. Then, right around my fortieth birthday, they started talking to me in the shower. And, as you may remember, once this fivesome starts talking it’s pretty hard to get them to stop.” And we are all ears for what they have to say.
